Moms or Grown-Up Mean Girls?
Does making mom friends require some secret handshake or code word? I love my girlfriends, and not just for the fun stuff we did that you would no doubt read about in a chick-lit novel, the plot centered on sassy city gals about town. I loved them for their simple company, the way I always felt a part of something even when we were drinking cheap wine and watching bad TV or, to the contrary, when we were on different coasts catching up over an instant messaging session.

This Girl's Getaway
Whether traveling solo or with a gaggle of gal pals, moms can recharge their batteries with an escape from “real life”. WHEN THE LAUNDRY PILE GETS TOO TALL, work deadlines loom, and carting kids to extracurricular activities just becomes overwhelming, sometimes the end-of-the-day glass (or bottle) of wine isn’t enough to ease stress. Sometimes, there’s only one cure for refueling the mom stores: getting the heck out of Dodge. No spouses or kids allowed.

World Wide Women
Today’s mom uses online social networks to share information, get advice, and even find a job. You are looking for a business contact, a last-minute idea for a birthday present, or some reviews of the latest minivans. To whom do you turn for advice? Your close friend? A business associate? Maybe a parent at your children’s school? Now imagine that sitting in your living room is a group of women who share your interests and who are ready, willing, and able to give answers and advice, as well as provide resources for additional information. Now imagine a classroom filled with these women. A gymnasium. A football stadium. Maybe even a city the size of Austin, Texas.
