Motto you live by: "Make the Best with what you've got, but get off your Tush and do it... Or change it, But don't B**** about it!"
How did you first conceive of the idea of the “get lean while you clean” concept?
I hated the 60 lbs I had gained with my second child and I wanted it to come off three months before I gave birth. That being said, I had a newborn a three-year-old, a house that looked like a bomb went off in every room, a fat ass and anxiety. I didn't have help and I felt overwhelmed. I was tired of feeling sorry for myself and shifted into becoming solution oriented. I went back to my roots, Ballet, (I was a Professional Dancer for many years), and began doing a basic ballet bar with my son in a sling, while folding my laundry. I remember thinking I can apply this to so much of my daily routine, so I did. It changed my body dramatically. Two kids later, I can honestly say I am in the best shape I have ever been in, and I haven't stepped foot in a gym in over three years. (Oh, and I made a DVD that shares the entire routine.)
What multi-tasking action are you most proud of? Without a doubt, "The rag drag" - (video below) This is the most AMAZING cardio and strengthening exercise. I came up with this when I took a rag put it under my foot, and cleaned up my sons spit up, (while holding him…seriously). I use this move to clean my floors. But what I love about it is I can do it while my kids take a bath, folding laundry, or even helping my daughter with homework!
What would you say to the “I could never do that in public!” moms? The reality is I don't do much of my work out in public. I do my work out in the privacy of my own home, after school, and while I cook dinner with my kids running around me and who cares if they think mommy looks like a dork? I say to them, "Ya know what, it’s important to keep your body strong, fit and healthy, so join me or get over it!" I think being a healthy role model for your kids is crucial, and I must say, my 7 year old is really starting to make smart choices with keeping active and living healthy.
What has been your most memorable video to date? I have to say my trip to the market (video below) Getting on the floor of the supermarket and shoving handfuls of chips in my mouth, while everyone stared at me was a moment I shall never forget.
The unhealthiest thing I’ve ever passed off as dinner was… a pop tart. It was late. I was tired.
My most humbling parent moment was… When my daughter told me I was wasting paper. She gave me an old colored piece of paper and told me to write on the back. My kids really pick up what I teach them and love to shove it in my face if I don't practice what I preach. My daughter keeps me in line with being a better person, and really calls me on it.
