My husband is an awesome guy but Valentine's Day is not usually his strong suit. However, he gets it right sometimes as well. He surprised me with a getaway one year for Valentine's day. He had the bags packed and we were off right after work. It was an amazing getaway. He is pretty special.

Since my husband thinks Valentine's Day is a 'Hallmark Holiday', he doesn't really get into that holiday. He's a wonderful husband, a terrific dad, a fun-loving, caring, and thoughtful person all year round...I get Valentine's day everyday!

I had been living overseas for 2 years. The year I returned, my then boyfriend (now husband), made up a picnic basket and took me to our favorite beach for dinner at sunset and a walk under the moonlight.

Something tells me this is going to be the best Valentine's Day yet as I'm dating the nicest, kindest man ever. It is our first V-Day together, but for my birthday last year he gave me a dozen long-stem roses, a full day at the spa (massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, etc) and the sincerest card. Plus just complimenting me all the time makes me smile just thinking about him.

When my husband was in college he gave me a valentines poem it was all about our future together when money is tight when your in college this was perfect.

The most romantic was last year - we had our first child in December 08 so he was 2 months old. My husband arranged for his parents to watch the baby, while I went and got my nails done and pampered myself. Then he took me to Studio movie grill for a valentines event they were having - dinner and a movie (the movie was He's just not that into you). After that he suprised me with a night in a hotel which was the hotel that we first stayed together at when we were dating.

I know it isn't the answer you are looking for but, my man does nice things all year. He brings me a coffee refill w/o my asking. He leaves me love notes hidden. He brings me food. He does little things every day that mean so much more than one big overt action on a "holiday".

Last year I was so tired from taking care of our kids, a full time job and being pregnant. I was getting some work done and my husband told me to go take a shower. He had made reservations and arranged a babysitter. I got out of the shower and he had my maternity clothes all laid out (even a red top for VDay). He blew dry my hair for me. Then off to dinner at a very nice yet affordable place. It was relaxing, romantic and I felt pampered and loved.

My hubby and I do not celebrate Valentine's Day. We believe you should treat your mate (and others) with love and respect every day, not on an arbitrary commercialized holiday. So I suppose the most romantic thing my hubby has done for me on Valentine's Day is being there for me every day as an equal partner in parenting, business, and household chores. :-)

When we were dating, my (future) husband always kind of mocked valentine's day -- saying it was cheesy. So he totally threw me for a loop when he proposed to me ON Valentine's Day! He planned the whole thing, proposing on the porch of a house we were kind of looking to purchase. Of course, after that, we had to get the house! It's still a special day for us -- we found out our first child was a girl on Valentine's Day, and discovered we were pregnant with our second daughter several Valentines Days later!

Valentines day comes right after my birthday and is NOT a holiday he excels at, but one year for my birthday he surprised me with an amethyst set that I loved....

It sounds cliche, but the first year he got me a beautiful bouquet of red roses. I love flowers and even when I was on a student budget, I always found a way to have fresh flowers on my desk. I love roses, but they are so expensive. So it was a luxury that I wouldn't have done for myself.

My husband and I met on Valentines Day 17 years ago this Valentines. So every year on Valentine's Day we go back to the same restaurant we met and celebrate meeting the love of our lives.

When my husband and I were dating we stayed at a fancy historic hotel, had a nice dinner out and saw a Broadway show... hard to do that now with two young kids and full-time jobs but we definitely need to make more time for us.

Normally, we don't celebrate Valentine's Day. But last year, my fiance, surprised me at midnight with a homemade chocolate cake with a dozen, red, handmade icing roses on it (i have my own business as a cake maker) and a 1st edition copy of Pride and Prejudice (I also collect antique books). It was perfect and wonderfully thoughtful :)

The most romantic thing my husband did for me on Valentine's Day was to bring me breakfast in bed -- complete with heart shaped pancakes and strawberries. Mmmmm... bliss to a mom with 2 sets of twins!

These days holidays are about crafts with kids, cooking and class projects. While I love the time i spend with my two boys, i absolutely cherish the "quiet times" with my husband. Each valentine's he makes sure i am pampered and relaxed and give me lots of "me time"! No amounts of chocolate or jewelery can come close to that! :o)

My husband proposed to me on Valentine's Day. He rented a hotel room, made a heart on the floor out of rose petals, and had champagne and roses waiting in the room. He actually tricked me into thinking we were meeting a friend of his to go out and I didn't expect anything. I can't believe I fell for it!

The most romantic thing my ex has done for me was buy me lots of flowers and tell me how much he loved me! We were long distance so it was hard to see each other.
