The best gifts I have ever received are the ones that my husband gets me on his own - ones that I didn't put on a list. It means he really thought about me and what I would like and I love that he put that effort into it. I think my favorite gift may have been my Dooney and Bourke watch.

That would have to be a tie between my two little ones :)

The best gift I ever received was a spa day from my husband when I was really stressed out. The fact that he noticed that I was so stressed and that he knew exactly what I would need really meant more to me than anything (although I enjoyed the massage and facial too!)

My husband always has a knack for buying me gifts that are indulgent, but also make my life easier... and they always focus on my hobbies. This Christmas it was a new camera bag and an eye-fi card. Two things I never would have purchased on my own!

It does sound cliched, but the greatest gifts are my two boys and their loving father. I am sure glad that we found each other.

Can't decide between 2. My husband sent me flowers at work one day when he knew I was having a really tough day. I dried them and still keep them on my desk as a remider that he's thinking about me. My husband also bought my a new iPod (that I had been wanting for a long time) for Mother's Day from my kids and had it engraved, "Thanks for the mammories. Love, L & C" because he knows how much I enjoyed nursing them both! I thought that was hysterical!

The best gift I ever received was plane tickets to bring myself and 2 young children home for Christmas. My husband is in the military and was on a remote assignment in Korea for a year. We had planned to drive across the country to visit my family and attend 2 family weddings over the Christmas break, but a crippling ice storm prevented us from going. We couldn't manage the airfare and I didn't even consider it an option, but my sister decided that she didn't want us to miss out. She brought us home and we were lucky enough to spend a week with family, making the absence of my husband so much easier to bear!

I best gift that I have ever received was a hand knitted baby blanket from our great aunt. It was so special to me because she was very ill when she created it and it was her last blanket that she created for our family before she died. It is a wonderful keepsake that we continue to use for special events and every time I see it, I think of her!

Besides my amazing family, it was probably the Dixie Chicks tickets that my husband gave me for my birthday 7 years ago. He HATES country music but bought me the tickets and happily came along because he knew how much I wanted to go!

The best gift I ever received was one sent by my father to my husband & I after the birth of our daughter. My stepmother had found someone to make a scrap book for me - and it is probably the most beautiful book I've seen - and on each page there is a sleeve. In each sleeve on each page, my father and stepmother placed a small envelope and each envelope there was cash. It all added up to $300, but it was not the money that made the gift. It was that they took the time to find the book - decorated with all of the things we love - and then split the $300 into 20s, 10s, 5s, 2s, and 1s. It was just the most thoughtful gift I have ever received. I love the book very much.

The best gift that I have ever received was a portrait of my father who had recently deceased. The funeral home created a spectacular print from an old photo that they received and presented it to me and my sister at the conclusion of the funeral. It was very touching.

The absolute best gift I ever received was when I was 2 months old. I was given up for adoption and at two months I had found wonderful new parents. The best thing about this gift is that it keeps on giving. I had a wonderful chilhood and my parents are fabulous grandparents to my kids. I met my birth parents and their families when I was 18 and now my boys are lucky enough to be loved by 4 sets of grandparents! Christmases are a little crazy though! LOL!

For Mother's Day my husband set everything up to be wireless so I can work anywhere in the house and gave me a Blackberry. I'm home with our three kids but still want/need to work. Now I have the flexibility to work anywhere I need to and take care of my family.

The best gift I have ever received was from my boyfriend at the time. We lived long distance and I was not able to see him for Christmas. In January I went out to see him and when I arrival he surprise me with this Swarovski crystal necklace that I have wanting for a long time.

When I was a little girl I wanted a dog more than anything. For years I talked about having my own dog. I was really passionate about it. On my thirteenth birthday we went to celebrate with my sister at her college dorm. My mom gave me a card and inside was taped a picture of a golden retriever puppy. I thought oooohhh how cute, the way thirteen year old girls do, and then I read the text, "You can have a puppy!" While I've had other really terrific gifts that puppy was the best. My dog was my best friend for the next thirteen years.

The best gift I ever got was from my husband when we were first becoming serious. It was in the 80's when the movie Valley Girl was popular, and my husband looked just like Nicholas Cage with his perfectly faded jean jacket. He was wearing it the first time I saw him, and wore it most of the time on mild days. It was one of his signature pieces, and he loved it. For his birthday, he gave it to me! I knew then that he really loved me, and was in it for the long haul. We've been married almost 20 years!

One year for Mother's Day my husband gave me a pink travel mug from Starbucks, and I thought "Wow, a mug." Out loud I said, "Wow! A mug!" He thought he was pretty clever because he knew he was hitting on the things that I loved: Pink, my morning coffee, and carrying my coffee around with me. I thought it was the dumbest present ever, but five years later I still carry around that mug and am reminded of my husband's "thougtful" gift and the pride he carried around afterwards. Silly.

The best gifts to me are the ones that people make. I love getting a gift that someone put a lot of time into. It makes getting something truly special and heartfelt. My grandma still makes blankets, hats, and sweaaters for my kids, and I love them all!

The best gift I've received was my first digital SLR camera from my husband 6 years ago. It sparked such inspiration inside me that I opened my own photography business and it put me where I'm at today. I was so moved when I opened that gift that I think somewhere inside I knew I was going to do something great with that camera. I'm still grateful to this day that he went ahead and got it even when I told him not to spend so much money.

The best gift I received was from my husband. In order to lower Christmas costs this year my husband and I decided not to exchange gifts so that we could do more for the kids and our parents. On Christmas morning I found in my stocking a long letter from my husband detailing for me why he loved me, what made him fall in love with me, how grateful he was for me and how wonderful a wife, mother and partner I was. I will treasure that gift forever and hopefully someday when we are gone our children will read it and realize how much their parents loved each other.

The best gift I've received was from my mother this past birthday, which happens to be Christmas Eve. I am a single mom with a 7 year old son. I recently returned to school to obtain my teaching certification in Texas. This past year has been emotionally, physically, and financially draining on my son and I as I juggle the responsibilities of a full-time mom, student, and everything else we moms have to be. This year when my mother asked me what I would like for my birthday I told her I just wanted a rejuvenation day..an "it's all about me" day. So the Saturday before my birthday I put my son's hand in my mom's and strolled to my car and went off exploring. I fought the crowds at the malls (for a little while), had a leisurely coffee, took myself to brunch, perused a few galleries--all with the complete confidence of knowing my son was in the most capable hands (next to mine of course). I was completely renewed that evening when I returned from my adventure. I enjoyed it so much that I've decided to pay it forward to another single-mom friend of mine. It was so necessary and renewing...now how many more days til Christmas Eve?

maybe not the best but the most exciting gift that made me feel like a rockstar mom. my mom gave us a quick trip for new years eve in vegas to see a concert and the ball drop. it literally wisked my husband and i away for about 48 hrs to go refresh and have an awesome time.

I think the best gift I received was a few months ago. Me, my husband and our recently turned 5 year old daughter Maddie was sitting in a restaurant. Maddie said something that totally impressed me so I asked her "Madeline, where did you learn that?" She replied, "Daddy taught me. He teaches me everything." I then asked, "Does Mommy teach you anything?" Maddie turned to look at me and quickly answered, "Oh yes Mommy you teach me love!" That had to be my greatest gift thusfar!

The best gifts I've ever received have come from my children. I love when they make me a gift from their hearts using all the creativity their minds can muster. I have a gorgeous bracelet that my oldest daughter made for me when she was three as well as a darling frame that my youngest made when she was three. Apparently 3 is a great age for creative genius!

My first child, Abigail, born five days before Christmas. The cards that my husband gives me when he sees I am having a tough time of things. The handmade gifts from my kids with their hand and feet prints.

The best gift I've received was a pair of black Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. It was my 12th birthday and I had been asking for these jeans ever since the commercial started showing on the television. At the time there were only blue jeans- black jeans were unheard of. The problem is, we were very poor and the jeans were $50. My mom later told me that my grandfather sent a check to my mom to buy me a birthday gift- the check was for $50. I remember crying when I opened my one gift that year. I wore those jeans until they were grey!

the digital camera i received for the birth of my son

All time favorite gift: probably my spring suspension rocking horse I got for Christmas when I was 3. My mom tells me I loved to bounce so hard on that thing that she thought I was going to become airborn. Gifts are just so amazing when we're little. It's not that I don't love the gifts I get as an adult, but I'm sure my eyes don't get as big when I take off the wrapping paper. However, I'm not sure I'd buy a spring suspension rocking horse for my son. He WOULD become airborn for sure!

The best gift I received was from my husband the Christmas after our first child turned 1: a weekend away at a B&B. He had even arranged for his sister to come down and babysit. We had a fabulous, relaxing, much-needed couples-only getaway that reminded us we weren't just parents, we were still the same people underneath the sleep deprivation and spit-up!

The best gift I received was my twin boys. I have raised them by myself for the last 12 years, they are 17 now. I have never remarried so it has always been just me and my boys. Well three years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I just didn't think I could do it alone but what I didn't realize was what good men I had raised. Going through radiation and chemo kicked my butt. I refused to let my boys come in the bathroom when I was spending the first night vomiting from the chemo. On the second night they very loudly insisted I let them in, I did and they sat with me all night holding my hair back and rubbing my back until it was done. There was not one time they did not come in and help their Mom get through those rough days and nights. They were my rocks and made it bearable. I doubt there will ever be a better gift for me.

The best gift I received was just a few years ago, 5 to be exact, My son was doing chemo, and my daughter was having our first grandchild, my daughter went into conjustive heart failure the next after having our wonderful Taylor. So, I had two children to worry about.. But the stars were on my side, Although it's taken years for both of them to get better, they are both striveing to live life and enjoy all the good things ahead.. They are both my hero's, As for my granddaughter Taylor, Just amazing

The best gift I ever received was a few weeks ago from my husband, for Christmas. We have a great life, and don't feel the need to need anything, so we challenged each other to spend $5 or less on each other for presents. Of course, you were allowed to upcycle, redesign, embellish anything you bought, bu the $5 was firm. He found a handled tray with a frame inside, disassembled it, and used old wallpaper and traced silhouettes of the kids to fill the frame. It was amazing, so beautiful, I cried. And I was astounded that he had somehow known it was exactly what I had always wanted.

The items my kids make me for Christmas and my birthday. (Less than a month apart) Some of the items they have given me over the years are cherished now.

My son was 6 years old. We were doing some Christmas shopping together. He picked up a small glass carafe from a shelf and asked if I liked it. I said that I did and he quietly asked if he could buy it with the money he had in his pocket. How could I say no?! Christmas morning I had a little package under our tree. It was not too much to look at. Lots of tape and a bow. Inside was THE most beautiful little glass carafe I've ever seen! I told him he sure was being sneaky at the store that day. He replied, "Well, I knew you kinda like things like that and I wanted you to have it. I love you Mommy!" My "baby" is now 16 years old and I still have my precious gift ~ proudly displayed in my kitchen as a sweet reminder of what it means to be a cheerful giver.
