I earned my first dollar babysitting.

I earned my first dollar by setting up a Lemonade Stand on the corner.

I earned my first dollar babysitting, too, as a "mother's helper" when I was about 10, entertaining an infant down the street while his mom did housework.

I was the "drink girl" at the nearby golf course for the Saturday morning tournament. I worked for tips only. My dad, a regular golfer, thought of the idea. I would load up a cooler of drinks, list what I had taken, then "cash back in" at the end of the morning.

I earned my first dollar by babysitting siblings at a preschool while the other kids were in a class taught by my mother. Three friends and I each earned $5 for watching several kids for an hour. Of course, we then all went out to Burger King for lunch as a treat on these days, so I wound up pretty much spending my $5 as soon as I got it! What can you expect from an 11 year old?

I am sure I must have earned a dollar or two doing household chores, but the first one I can remember came from selling a painting I did in art class to my school principal!

I was the "drink girl" at the golf course during the Saturday morning tournament.

I earned my first dollar helping my mom and dad pass out fliers for their home bases businesses. My dad is a health insurance sales man and my mom did House of Lloyd's house warming parties. My first outside family paid job was through JTPA (job training partnership act) at the USAFA as an administrative assistant to the Commandant of Cadets.

My Dad is a lawyer and when I was little I would help him put his briefs together - my main job was setting up the Exhibit tabs because I knew my A, B, C's so well :) I would also help push the copy button and bring my Dad a drink (very carefully - no spilling!)

I earned my first dollar at a lemonade stand, where we also sold tie dyed tshirts. The police made us shut down though because we did not have the proper permits! It was a good learning experience though.

The first dollar I earned came from doing well on a report card. A's were weighted the highest at a dollar, B's 50 cents, and 0.0 for anything less (which never happened!).

Babysitting. I put up a sign in my mom's office. She still has it saved!

I got my first dollar at my lemonade stand :)

I'm pretty sure I earned my first dollar by putting my Grandpa's dinner dishes in the kitchen for him.

I earned my first dollar by helping my parents around the house. From a young age I always had regular chores, but if I wanted to make more money then they would give me extra jobs. After that I sold lemonade as well as tomatoes, and cucumbers from the family garden. I also started babysitting and umpiring for T-ball around 12.

I earned my first dollar babysitting.

Technically, I earned my first dollar baby-sitting. I earned my first dollar at a real job when I landed a job in the city at a small retail clothing store at 16. All my friends were impressed that I worked "downtown". Of course, most of my dollars went right back into the store! :-)

I earned my first dollar babysitting when I was 12.

My dad owned a furniture restoration business for years and years. Every day after school, I would walk up to his shop and spend the afternoon crawling around the furniture. To keep me busy, my dad gave me a "job". For every 5 nails or stapels I would pick out of the carpet, I would get a nickel. I don't know how long it took before I made my first dollar, but trying kept me out of trouble and out of the way.

My first "job" was babysitting my younger sisters and brother while my parents went bowling ~ they paid me for doing it.

I started babysitting as a 8 year old and I saved every penny I made! It was good practice, I now have 5 kids!

My first dollar was earned babysitting! Seemed to be the same for many of us ladies. I babysat the child of a professor my father worked with at UT Arlington. I watched Golden Girls, ate snacks and played with their little boy. Many times he was asleep before I even got there, it was an easy gig and I did it often. I saved enough money to purchase my class ring and a ring for my high school sweetheart. I love those days, now I have six kids, and I can't just watch Golden Girls and escape! :)

Besides cleaning my room for allowance? Babysitting, of course! I was the trusty neighborhood babysitter--and I loved it!

My first job was "helping" my Aunt Bonnie clean her house. We mostly moved things around and then went out to lunch. It was the most fun I have ever had making money.

The tooth fairy! I worked hard on harvesting those teeth...

my great grandmother lived in a retirement building where i would do odd jobs live sorting-delivering-and if necessary reading the mail to other tenents- thats how i earned $1 a week

I earned my first dollar shoveling snow. Whenever it snowed, my brother and I would wait for it to stop, bundle up and start ringing neighbors' doorbells. Most people waiting for us to come by. You don't see too many kids out shoveling snow to earn money these days.

I earned my first dollar pulling weeds in my mothers herb garden when I was 4 or 5~

Scratching my daddy's back. I used to earn a penny for every minute I scratched his back. I wonder if that would have been considered child-labor thirty years ago?

I made it doing household chores. i helped with the dishes, folded laundry, washed windows... stuff like that.

Babysitting the other kids in the neighborhood. It was a bit strange because I was only a few years older so we would all play together during the day and then I had to tell them when to go to bed when I was babysitting. No wonder they never took me seriously.

I earned my first dollar pulling dandelions.

I made my first dollar clipping my grams toenails!

I made my first dollars by picking up sticks in the yard. One day I picked up a rat snake and I was very careful afterwards to make sure it was a stick I was picking up. About scared me to death.

I sold GRIT magazine door to door in my neighborhood!

Babysitting was how I earned my first dollars. Then I moved on to working in a clothing store at the mall :)

Wow, these look too cool!

I earned my first dollar working at a roadside fruit stand. I loved the colors and scents of the fruits and the feel of the sunshine. How fitting this prize would be for my twin daughters!

These are cute!
