Motherhood can put an interesting twist on our sense of fashion and style as a woman. New moms discover their bodies have changed; moms in their thirties are stuck between not wanting to look like a teeny-bopper or their mothers!
You want to keep your savvy, youthful look without selling out to looking like your 16 year-old kid sister.
Replace these “what not to wear” styles with some fashion must’s that will help every mom look sexy, savvy and age appropriate!
No: Spaghetti strap, halter tops and tube tops.
Yes: Choose T’s and tanks that are well-fitted. Even a T with a cropped sleeve gives your arms a more cut, defined appearance.
No: Short-shorts are just not stylish. There is not enough there to create a style!
Yes: A better, more stylish short is a “city short.” They fall between your mid-thigh to upper knee and are slender and fitted and look sleek and youthful.
No: Flip-flops paired with a skirt. This is just a cheap, “I can’t afford any shoes” look.
Yes: Class up your outfit with a fun sandal, even a split toe sandal, just not a pair of rubber or plastic flip-flops.
No: Too much makeup! If someone notices your makeup first, you know it is too much.
Yes: Go for a lighter makeup look by switching your black mascara to a beautiful brown and rather than a liquid foundation choose a light powder that is applied with a kabuki brush.
No: Long hair parted down the middle. Unless you look like Demi Moore or Gwenyth Paltrow, this style is really no style. Most women do not have the face shape and facial features to pull this off.
Yes: Choose a style with some layers and height.
Trying to look younger by wearing younger styles will make you look older and like your trying. Pay attention to your “beauty sixth sense” or your inner fashion consultant. Every woman has an intuitive sense of what she looks best in if she will listen to it. It is almost always the item you say “I love that” about. If you’re not saying that, pass it by!
