we turn off the AC on summer days when it's not as hot and open up the house--the ceiling fans work wonders!

All last year I used reusable plastic container with a sandwich spot on one side and two smaller places on the other side. I made my son homemade "lunchables" with exactly what he wanted in it. Good for the environment and he ATE it!

We recycle more

We have a rain barrel to catch run-off.

We try to buy food products with less packaging and waste.

We fill our recycling bin each week. The kids are very good about knowing what can go in there rather than the garbage. We bought water filters and drink more from the tap now rather than bottled water. We also planted a garden for the 1st time this summer!

We recycle everything we can - our 3 year old is so into it that at a party he started to recycle pop cans that weren't empty yet!

We were so excited when single stream recycling came to town. Now, our recyclying bin is filled to the top and our garbage is only half full. The kids love reminding me to recycle too!

We use only washable towels and napkins

I started with cloth diapers and then started making my own wipes!! I never thought I'd do that or could survive doing it! I also made the family stop using bottled water and we all got really cool water bottles that can be reused. I would love to start using the reusable snack bags...I can't seem to find them around here....guess I need to order some!!

We have adjusted the air/heat temps., keep the shades/curtains closed in summer, recycling/reusing/repurposing, hang the laundry out on the clothes line in the summer, doing errands and grocery shopping all on one day, packing lunches with reusable containers instead of plastic baggies. My little girl who just started K would love one of these!

We talk to the kids alot about how we affect the people and planet around us. My four-year-old is hard core when it comes to recycling and we are proud to say our recycling bin is usually much fuller than our garbage can. We all have our own drink bottles so why not our own snack bags, such a great idea!

I love the concept of "no garbage lunches". Since my boys started school 2 years ago - I try to use only their refillable water bottles, along with reusable containers for sandwiches and snacks.

We recycle, re-use more objects, and try to use little to no disposible products. I have not purchased paper napkins in over 2 years. Cloth are cheaper and more environmentally friendly in the long-run.

I never buy pre-pkg'd lunch snacks - i always buy in bulk, and then kids help with an assembly line with huge open bags of chips, cookies, ect. and use baggies to pre-package them all and have ready to grab and throw into lunches later. 1 bag bought vs product in plastic wapped box with a dzn individual bags.

This is fabulous! I have throwing away the plastic sandwich/snack baggies. Now I won't have to..at least if I won, I wouldn't have to anymore. ;)

We purchase a pur waterfilter and have ceased our purchase of disposible water bottles!

We have started to use more re-useable containers for lunches

We recycle almost everything now and have noticed that our garbage can is not full on trash day. My boys also use reusable water bottles for their water.

we use non paper towels, I use cloth pads and a diva cup and cloth diapered my son!! anamlgrl@yahoo.com

We compost, cloth diaper, recycle, etc... but one of my recent brilliant ideas was to keep a foaming soap dispenser at each sink in my house. When I refill I only have to fill about 1/5 full with soap from a refill bag and the rest is water, a few drops of food coloring, and a few drops of essential oil. My daughter loves to pick the color of soap we will put in her bathroom next.

recyclying cans - having a monthly dark day! I would love to have these bags - i'm sick of plastic bags

Re-usable water bottles, re-usable grocery bags, lots more recycling, less paper towels, and we love hand-me-down toys and clothes - handing down anything we no longer need to others. Soon we will be trying cloth diapers. :)

we never use the AC and always switch off lights, computer,tv when not in use.

We recycle and buy products that are environmentally-friendly.

We've been donating old greeting cards so a children's charity can re-use them and make new cards to sell.

My girls remind me of the 3 R's all the time - Reduce, Reuse & Recycle! And we try to live by those rules all the time.

We have a garden with fresh veggies and we recycle!

We wrap presents in newspaper!

we reuse our grocery bags as trash bags

We recycle everything we can. That includes all the kids' art work (from school, camp and @ home). My 8 and 4.5 yr olds get to keep the few gems they can't bear to part with and the rest get used AS STATIONERY for letters to grandma, friends, aunts/uncles or cousins. Our friends & family love getting the art work almost as much as the letter on the other side and my kids feel proud of their creativity AND enjoy writing. (We have to cut some of the pictures, of course, but it's better than tossing them out or trashing my house). They get another life. LOVE the cloth bag instead of plastic!!!

My husband and I take our coffee in reusable coffee mugs everyday. Saves money and waste.

We have stopped buying water in plastic bottles. Instead we use a Pur water pitcher.

We try to use more containers and less plastic bags!

We use reusuable canvas grocery bags now and switched to energy saving light bulbs.

We have started recycling every item that we can. I am also more aware of the items that I buy and the packaging they come in. Thanks!

We buy local as much as possible!

Two ways: We use reuse and recycle as much as possible. We teach our children to treat Mother Earth very kindly.

We recycle what we can, We have stopped buying bottled water and use a water pitcher that filters the water, we also take reusable bags when we go shopping. fce555 at sbcglobal dot net

We now always reuse grocery bags and recycle the plastic ones when we do get them.'Thanks for the chance. mogrill@comcast.net

We've been using water bottles, bringing our own bags to the grocery and just started a rain barrel irrigation system for our new garden.

We recycle, use cloth bags at the grocery and walk whenever we can instead of taking transportation. bgcchs(at)yahoo(dot)com

We always use cloth bags when grocery shopping.

We compost, use cloth diapers and wipes, recycle, drive a hybrid, and use reusable bags for grocery shopping.

I always recycle and unplug things that are not in use

when the light in my head went off, that's when even other lights went off

We use reusable bags when shopping and we try and keep the electricity and water output to a minimum.

We reuse as much as we can and recycle (my kids already understand recycing and help out!). We also try to buy items with less packaging or biodegradable/recycleable packaging
