Meet our Featured Mavens on a Mission!

Kate S. from New York: One of our first!

Kate used to be a corporate executive for a large company in Manhattan. She spent a decade going to work each day in a building that also housed the offices for a magazine that we know you’ve heard of.

She loves it all – clothes, purses, jewelry, and would look enviously at the women heading into the fashion mag offices! What she longed to do was to open her own boutique, but the risk and overhead expenses were too high. Then along came the opportunity to work with Hybrid Her Trunk Shows.

For Kate, Hybrid Her Trunk Shows are the perfect fit for her combination of business sense and creative style.  Plus, Kate loves the idea of supporting women entrepreneurs from around the globe. “This business venture is not about selling ‘things.’  In fact, I’m not selling products.  The products sell themselves.”  This is really about promoting some of the most exciting, emerging women designers and artisans with as Kate puts it, “stories as beautiful as the products themselves.”

Sarah D. from Chicago: The most copied trunk show!

“It has to be amazing.”

That’s what we heard from the outset from Sarah.  She was only willing to add products to her Trunk Show that she would buy for herself. She loves stuff with an international flair and supporting companies that give back in a significant way. That really mattters to her.  The result is a collection of designer items that other socially minded Mavens have copied with much success.

With a business and entrepreneurial background and great personality, Sarah finds it easy to get people as excited about the products as she is, and she loves that “no two Trunk Shows are ever exactly same!”

Jeannine C. from Philadelphia: Face time with friends!

Not all Mavens are looking for a new day job!  Jeannine  has a full life – a family, a full-time career as a physical therapist, and a lot of volunteer activities that keep her schedule full and busy.

She also has a large group of women friends who live nearby in the suburbs of Philadelphia.  For Jeannine, it’s hard to get everyone together to take a breath, catch up, and have a meaningful conversation (that’s not through a text!)

Jeannine held one of the inaugural Trunk Shows in the Philadelphia area, and for her, it was an opportunity to support women artisans while sharing beautiful jewelry, handbags, and apparel  – and their stories – with her friends.  Over cocktails, Jeannine and her girlfriends discussed work, their kids’ latest activities, upcoming vacation plans – all the while browsing the  styles of The Brooklyn Bakery (a definite bestseller at Jeannine’s show!) and collections from designers, Serefina, Ladjili Jewelry and many more. For Jeannine, having a curated fashion show right in her own home is a fun way to get the girls together AND support global artisans and causes – a true Hybrid Her success story!
